humor only a biologist could love

Star Trek

I have seen this movie twice in theaters. IT IS SO GOOD.

Green blood–copper based, that is–works better in a small (open) circulatory system. Copper isn’t as efficient an oxygen carrier as the iron-based heme group, but it has the advantage of not binding better to carbon monoxide than it does to oxygen. So you can’t suffocate an insect like that, but on the other hand a giant insect would probably die of gangrene (or something) on account of its terrible circulation.

IT’S NOT LOGICAL.
